1300     Registration – St Peter’s Church Hall, Daliburgh.   Teas/coffee

1500     Bus to MFS grave at Hallan cemetery and walk on machair

1700     Short service at St Peter’s, Daliburgh with Canon D Mackay

1800     Informal dinner at St Peter’s Hall

2000     Films and Welcome Ceilidh, St Peter’s Hall

 

MONDAY 9 JULY

1000     Welcome and Introduction by National Trust for Scotland – St Peter’s Hall

1010     The Campbells in Barra, South Uist and Canna – John Love, South Uist, Tea/coffee

1130     Margaret Fay Shaw: life and legacy – Hugh Cheape, National Museum of Scotland

            Lunch, St Peter’s Hall

1400     Personal memories of the Campbells – Magda Sagarzazu, Isle of  Canna

1500     Bus to North Glendale for a walk and a dram led by Paul McCallum, Donald Ruaraidh Campbell and

             Donald Anthony Campbell. Lazy beds and peat cutting demonstration.

1800     Dinner at St Peter’s Hall

1930     Film then Launch of new CD ‘Margaret’s Glen’ and a performance of songs collected by Margaret Fay

            Shaw by Paul McCallum (Mod Gold Medalist) and Vivien Mackie (Cello)

 

TUESDAY 10 JULY

0930     Friendship at the Core: the creation of the School of Scottish Studies – Dr Margaret Mackay,  

             School of Scottish Studies. In St Peter’s Hall.           Tea/coffee

1100     ‘A bird blown off course’ - from the Alleghenies to St. Francis Xavier University via  Canna

             Sister Margaret MacDonnell, St Francis Xavier University, Cape Breton.

1200     Natural Remedies from the machairs and moors of Uist– Dr Sarah Marr

            Packed lunch

1400     Bus to Workshops in Boisdale House or Bus to Kildonan Museum for exhibition of MFS photographs

            Workshops – Butter making and cooking: Mrs Betty Maclean

             Wool dyeing and spinning: Ms Flora Macdonald

            Gaelic song: Paul McCallum, Vivien Mackie, Isobel T Macdonald

1630     Presentation of  the Margaret Fay Shaw archive at Kildonan Museum – Hugh Cheape

1900     Conference dinner, St Peter’s Hall – dress informal

2100     Ceilidh St Peter’s with local artists, with Waulking demonstration

 

WEDNESDAY 11 JULY

1000     The Oral Tradition - a Hidden Treasure Isobel T Macdonald. In St   Peter’s Hall.   Tea/coffee

1130     The Future – Hugh Cheape and Magda Sagarzazu.

1230     Concluding Remarks – Lord Dalkeith, National Trust for Scotland.
